We are pleased to advise that any paid-up member of the Swire Mariners Association may adopt a "Swire Mariners" email "alias" if he or she so wishes. It's free - just more work for your webmaster, but he needs the exercise.
How does it work? Simple. Let's say your name is John Peters and your current e-mail is JohnP2345@aol.com. The SMA can give you any name you like (as long as it's not already taken: an unlikely scenario) followed by @swiremariners.com. Thus, you could choose JohnPeters, JollyJack, Kwangsi ... the possibilities are endless and probably ridiculous.
Once your new alias is established, you can give this address to anyone: print it on your business cards if you like, or leave it in phone boxes in Soho. Any e-mail sent to your new address will be forwarded, by a miracle of science, to your regular, boring old address: in our example, JohnP2345@aol.com. Your sender will never know this. Easy, eh?
Be proud of your Association. Go for it. If you wish to take advantage of this facility, which is available to any member who has stumped up a measly fifteen quid for the honour of continued SMA membership in 2003, simply e-mail DarkMoment@swiremariners.com (see? he's got one already) with your current e-mail address and the alias you would like to assume for your new, distinctive @swiremariners.com address.
