Welcome to our fourth 'flightsim' page. From here we'll be linking for download any and all 'add-on' work for Microsoft's Flight Simulator FSX featuring the aircraft or operations of Cathay Pacific Airways, past and present.
FSX was released in October 2006 and is - as the title indicates - the tenth version of Microsoft Flight Simulator. FSX comes with many improvements over its predecessor, FS2004, and we expect to be showcasing innovative and exciting work on this page as developers get to discover what they can do with everything the new sim has to offer.
For the present, we'll be continuing to update our FS2004 page also; FSX is demanding on systems and many simmers are choosing to remain with FS2004 for the present, pending hardware upgrades.

Boeing 707-351C
From the Historic Jetliners Group, a lovely Boeing 707 in Cathay Pacific colours, registration VR-HGU, circa 1977. Original design by Gary Carlson, textures by Michael Verlin. Optimised for FS2004 but works in FSX.

Boeing 707-351C
Also from the Historic Jetliners Group, this 707 livery by Ben Hartmann, registration VR-HJQ, circa 1975. Original design by Gary Carlson. Optimised for FS2004, works fine in FSX.

Boeing 747-200/300
Commercial Level Simulations have released a very interesting 742/743 product which includes, among a great many other liveries, CX colours both old and new for the 200 and Cathay Cargo colours for the 300. Visit the page linked above for full details of this complex payware product.
Boeing 747-400
A texture set for the payware PMDG 747-400 aircraft. This represents VR-HUE, which first flew for Cathay on 30/3/93. By Johnny Lawrence (Bozo). Boeing 777-200
Wilco Publishing offer a 777 in their payware Modern Airliner Collection which includes a repaint in Cathay Pacific livery. Aircraft features Fuel Planner and Load Editor, customised digital sound set, realistic animations, detailed gear sequence, high resolution textures. Also packaged with a FS2004 version which has flexing wings. Panel includes fully functional weather radar, airways input for the FMS, TCAS, GPWS, EFIS screens, multifunction display, APU startup/shutdown sequences and more. FMS offers SID & STARS, POS init, RTE, LEGS, FIX, PROGRESS, VNAV, NAV etc., with regularly updated database.
Boeing 777-300

Airbus A330-300RR
The Project Opensky A330-300 for Microsoft Flight Simulator X. Included in this package are the Airbus House scheme (With and without SATCOM), Air Canada, Cathay Pacific and Scandinavian Airlines liveries. All textures have been modified in DXT-3 format for crisp visuals without comprimising frame rates. The panel is aliased to the FS-X default Airbus A321 (due to no A330 panel available for FS-X to date). A magnificient A330 sound package by Steven Persson has been included for authenticity. Airbus A330-343X
This plane has 32-bit textures with alpha layer to make reflections on the fuselage. With reference to photos, Charles Cheng has tried to make a realistic interpretation of KT-LAD's configuration, window positions, cargo doors and hand-painted dirt. B-LAD is the 100th aircraft of Cathay Pacific, delivered on 30th August 2006, and also carrying the 60th Anniversary sticker of Cathay Pacific. Model is by Project Opensky A330v2 Version 2004-8-3. Airbus A340-300 in Cathay Pacific Airways colours (B-HXL) for the fantastic Overland SMS (FSPAP) model. These are textures only; the payware models can be found at www.overland.co.jp. Airbus A340-600
Wilco Publishing have released their Airbus Series Volume 2 for both FSX and FS2004. The Cathay paint provided with the package is for the Rolls-Royce engined A340-600.
Airbus Collection
Commercial Level Simulations has released a very comprehensive and long awaited A330/A340 payware product. This huge package, which includes the A330-200, A330-300, A340-200 and A340-300 aircraft, is compatible with both FS9 and FSX. The package comes with 2D and full 3D cockpit, LITE panel, highly detailed models and many features. The package includes 150 liveries, covering almost all operators of all four planes. Visit their site for details and downloads. In the base package, there are paints of Cathay Pacific aircraft for the Airbus A330-300, A340-200 (shown above) and A340-300.

Hong Kong International (VHHH) AFCAD files
This AFCAD BGL file is only for the FSX default airport: many gates resized where possible with assigned parking including extra parking and additional fuel trucks. The support Vehicle road has been completely rebuilt across the entire airport and Linked together including the Cargo area; this gives easier access for the support vehicles, which has now virtually eliminated support vehicles from using the taxiways and causing holdups. Airport views are from inside the control tower when in Tower View. With thanks to Jim Vile and Reggie Fields for their information enabling operation of these files in FSX. Hong Kong International (VHHH) AFCAD files
This AFCAD is for VHHH-Hong Kong. The gates, nodes, taxiways, vehicle paths, apron polys, control tower and fences have been relocated to conform to Google Earth aerial photographs. Some compromises have been made between the aerial photographs and default buildings. There are no airline designations for the gates because the gate assignments at Hong Kong are fluid and AI Traffic works better without them. By Eric G. Hansen. Hong Kong International Kai Tak Airport (VHHX) Active ILS
This FSX Airport is more then just an enhanced style Airport. As most know the Approach and Final (VMC) for AI Traffic in FSX is a straight in type landing and does not always consider real world approaches. This is due to the way that the coding is written in FSX and it puts limits on IFR arriving aircraft. At certain airports the AI Traffic will fly directly through a mountain once it is established on Final for a runway. What you will see with my files is a different type approach used for both the way I control AI and User Airplane Traffic in FSX. My AI Aircraft Approach coding system for FSX uses a visual offset approach so AI Traffic does not fly through the mountains but flys the IGS/LDA 13 approach to the Checkerboard. Try your skill flying a Large Heavy Airplane vectored by ATC onto the approach course of the IGS/LDA 13 approach to Kai Tak. Read the text file for all the enhancements added to the FSX VHHX Airport along with a full understanding of how the new Approaches work. Full set of Freeware Approach Charts included. By Jim Vile. Radio Clyde, Scotland, has in its archives (from 1998) a most interesting 25-minute piece on the pilot's perspective flying into Kai Tak, with many references to Cathay Pacific.
