Welcome to our third Cathay Pacific 'flightsim' page. From here we link for download any and all 'add-on' work for Microsoft's Flight Simulator FS2004 (which was released in July 2003) featuring the aircraft or operations of Cathay Pacific Airways, past and present.

Note that many of the add-on aircraft designed in GMAX and FSDS2 for FS2002 will work perfectly well in FS2004, as indeed will certain FSDS models. Do check out the FS2000 page too; there is some useful reference material there.

Douglas DC-3 'Betsy'
Repaint of the default FS2004 DC-3 as Cathay Pacific's founding aircraft, 'Betsy'. Choice of mipped and non mipmapped textures. Douglas DC-3 'Niki'

Douglas DC-4
A texture set for Jens Kristensen's fine Douglas DC-4/C-54. Requires the base aircraft files found in dc4_v10.zip. This represents Cathay Pacific Airways VR-HFF, a converted C-54B, as it appeared in 1959. Repaint by Wayne Tudor. Download here (cpa_dc-4.zip, 2.46MB, linked 31/1/06)

Consolidated PBY-5a Catalina
This is a repaint (textures only) of Mike Stone's 'turret' Catalina model spby5a.zip, available from www.pmstone.com. VR-HDT 'Miss Macao' was one of two Catalina amphibians bought in Manila by Cathay Pacific and chartered to the Macao Air Transport Company (MATCO), for trading between Hong Kong's Victoria Harbour and the nearby Portugese colony of Macao. 'Miss Macao' was tragically lost in July 1948 in the first recorded hijack of an aircraft for material gain. Textures by Henry William with refinements and CPA markings by Mark Beaumont. Douglas DC-6B

General Dynamics Convair CV880M
This exciting new model of the General Dynamics Model 22M Convair 880 is by The Historic Jetliners Group, featuring both the liveries the aircraft wore under Cathay and offering, additionally, a good panel and soundset. Using Hideki Hashimoto's original FS5 model as a reference, this model was put together by Dee Waldron with ground boarding stairs by Nick Botamer, flight dynamics and research by Marc Hookerman & Michael Verlin, master texture designs by Yannick Charland and crew figures by David Eckert. Features 30 sided fuselage, 32 sided engine nacelles with 3D intakes and exhausts, working baggage compartment doors, working main cabin entrance door with on-command ground boarding stairs, external lighting, animated primary and secondary control surfaces (low speed spoilers, high speed/low speed ailerons), animated pitch stabilator trim, animated landing gear with all working door details, 3D landing gear, wheel wells and cockpit, rolling wheels during ground taxi, nose wheel steering, and retractable outboard landing lights. Boeing 707-320C
Boeing 707-320C in Cathay Pacific old livery, registration VR-HGP; repainted in DXT3 reflective textures with chrome effects; works well in either FS2002 or FS2004. This is a GMAX-designed classic airliner with many moving parts, and is both very flyable and AI-friendly. Aircraft model and base textures by Lou Volland. CX paint by Michael Pearson.

Boeing 707-351C

Lockheed L-1011-385-1 TriStar
This fabulous model by AeroSim of Japan is without doubt the best Tristar made for flight simulation to date, including FMS/INS, 2D and 3D cockpits and too many features to list. Mark Beaumont's repaints of VR-HHK, VR-HHL, VR-HOK and VR-HHY require the base payware package from AeroSim's site, which includes other aircraft. Look for "Classic Liners Volume 2", plus updates. Lockheed L-1011-500 Tristar
Perfect Flight has released a payware version of the legendary Tristar, complete with panel and sound, that includes this attempt at a Cathay livery among many others. It's a 35 MB file, released 17/3/05. Cathay actually never operated the 500 series, but Tristar fans will probably live with that.

Lockheed L-1011-385-1 Tristar
Actually based on Mike Stone's L-1011-500 freeware model, this photoreal repaint by Mark Beaumont is representative of VR-HOE, one of Cathay's many L-1011 Tristars. You need the base aircraft from Mike Stone's site. Download here (cxL1011p.zip, 2.29MB, linked 20/4/05)

Lockheed L-1011-500 Tristar
Garry Smith has painted Mike Stone's freeware L-1011-500 in Cathay colours. Although much of Garry's own work is freeware, he charges for this particular texture. Find it at www.gjsmith.net

Lockheed L-1011-385-1 Tristar

Lockheed L-1011-385-1 Tristar
This is Michael Pearson's interpretation of a Cathay Tristar, based on Dee Waldron's low polygon AI model - itself based on an earlier model by Kevin Trinkle - which is also flyable in FS2004. Expect an updated version of the renowned "Pilot's" Tristar presently. Freeware designer Erick Cantu is also working on a new model.

Boeing 747SP
Classic green-stripe livery for the POSKY 747SP. This is a fictional paint; Cathay did not actually operate this type. Textures only; to use you need to download and install the 747SP base kit with Rolls Royce RB211 engines from Project Open Sky before installing these textures. Instructions for their use included. Boeing 747-200 'Ready for Pushback Second Generation'
This is one of the most complex simulations on the market today and without question the best available simulation of the Boeing 747-200 for use with Microsoft Flight Simulator. By Ralph Tofflemire and team, the 'Ready for Pushback Second Generation', which includes an add-on livery for Cathay Pacific crafted by Jure Dolanec, ships with analogue and tape instrument panels, soundset, 16 other liveries and very comprehensive documentation including 340+ page manual. A CD version is available in some stores that includes more liveries still. Simulates almost all 742 aircraft systems such as fuel management, hydraulics, pneumatics and electrics; Minimum Air Speed Protection, Flap over speed protection, CAT II Autoland, heating and cooling, pressure refuelling and fuel jettison. Ships with RFP INS system installed but is compatible with the even more detailed CIVA Delco Carousel IV-A INS system simulation, which is recommended for use with this add-on (released 4/04, linked 5/12/05).
The freeware version of this base package by Ralph, Chris Koegler, Bodo Mueller and Herve Dongmo is available for download at Avsim.com (rfp_v2.zip, 65.03MB, linked 16/8/07). This freeware release only includes the PW-engined model. For support, go to http://41686.rapidforum.com.

Boeing 747-200

This is an "old colors" Cathay Pacific Boeing 747-200B. This repaint has been made using the Project Opensky Boeing 747-200B V4. Boeing 747-400
These paints are for the fabulous payware PMDG model (see below); in early livery, by Hendrik Gau. VR-HOO was Cathay's first 747-400, delivered 20/8/88; VR-HOW was the tenth and is featured in the well-known video of Captain Don Grange piloting her from London to Hong Kong Kai Tak; and B-HUE was the seventeenth aircraft, delivered 7/5/93, and the last to wear this livery.

Another excellent paint by Charles Cheng of the 'POSKY V3' model, the 50th Anniversary (VR-HIB) was the first "Jumbo Jet" for Cathay Pacific; as VR-HKG, she arrived in Kai Tak on 31 July, 1979. Precision Manuals Development Group have released a long-anticipated payware model of the 'Queen of the Skies', which includes two Cathay Pacific liveries among many others. Boeing 747-467
Requires the Overland 'Fly into the Sky! World Airlines 747-400' payware package, available here: www.overland.co.jp/english/sms/w-airlines.html. B-HUE was delivered and added to Cathay Pacific Airways growing 747-400 fleet on 07/08/1997, for long-haul route use. This repaint has been meticulously rendered in 32-bit non-mips photoreal textures, of which 80% are photoreal. Includes night textures and textures for the virtual cockpit. Project Open Sky Update Files for FS2004
Warren C. Daniel and the team at Project Open Sky have produced update packs to convert all their FS2002 aircraft for use in FS2004, and to upgrade earlier FS2004 releases. Relevant file names for the Cathay fleet are 747-version-2004-8-5.zip, 3.62MB, 777-4.1.zip, 67.3KB, a330-version-2004-8-3.zip, 61.1KB, and most recently a340-200-300-version-2004-8-5.zip, 698KB.

If you're feeling flush, Phoenix Simulations (PSS) have produced new commercial versions of the Airbus A330-300 and A340-300 in Cathay Pacific liveries.
