 Well, in 2010, they forgot the flag. In 2011, they forgot to take a picture with the flag. Next year, they'll probably forget to go at all. We all get older... There was an excellent turnout, however, for the 2011 SMA meet in Dover, enticed perhaps with the possibility of repelling the French but not their wine. In attendance were Barnaby Swire, Paul Bundy, Philip Douglas, Dudley Groves, Stu Shields, Gilbert Reid, Colin Darch, David Ewings, Chris Pooley, Graeme Drewery, Barry Thompson, David Falkner, Don Haythornthwaite, Duncan Cameron, Chris Ryder, Julian Thorogood, Mike Swift, Colin Billimore, Winifred Jones, Jim Bird, Chris Macdonald, Tim Metzger, Bryan Bell, Norman Adams, Bill Hobson, Trevor Kay Russell, Chris Coulcher and Bob Wilson. Worth mentioning is that the company was graced by the presence of Winifred Jones, SMA member and ex-purser on the "Taiyuan". That kept the lads in order and probably improved their vocabulary considerably. Barnaby Swire was generous enough to attend on the Saturday and to host the dinner, which was greatly appreciated as the reader might surmise. One or two chaps forgot to turn up, and one or two couldn't for various reasons. Far more detail of the event is written up in Stu Shield's first-rate report which you may download here. On, on!
